ABOUT

ABOUT ME

Hello!

I’m Ursula and I’d like to welcome you to my page.

People make the decision to come to counselling for many reasons.  Sometimes life can feel overwhelming.  On the surface it can appear that we have the essentials that we ‘need’, yet we still feel anxious, depressed or alone and we are not entirely sure why.

I am a fully qualified counsellor working with people over the age of 16 both in person and online. I offer a safe space where you will not be judged in which we can explore what is going on for you and make meaning from what you are experiencing.

An introductory session in which we can decide if we are a 'good fit' for each other costs £30.  Thereafter sessions cost £55

EXPERIENCE

Some issues that clients have come to me with include:

  • stress and anxiety

  • depression and low mood

  • childhood issues

  • low confidence and self-esteem

  • struggles with intimacy

  • difficulties at work

  • issues of loss and bereavement

  • relationships difficulties

  • trauma and abuse

  • identity, gender and sexuality

  • isolation and disconnection

  • neurodiversity

Originally from Belfast, I settled in Scotland around ten years ago.  My background is in modern languages, and I worked in both the public and private sectors for many years.

I went on to train in counselling and psychotherapy at the University of Edinburgh in the psychodynamic and person-centred approach.   I have also completed a Certificate in Online and Telephone Counselling.  I enjoy undertaking regular CPD.

Post qualifying in 2018, I set up in private practice having gained experience in a number of public sector organisations and charities.

I love to read, walking my energetic golden doodle dog and enjoy yoga.

I am a member of COSCA and abide by their Code of Practice.

ABOUT COUNSELLING

Counselling is a talking therapy.  It usually takes place at the same time and in the same space every week.  Sessions last for 50 mins.  The length of time that people attend counselling for depends on each person and the area they want help with.  For some people a block of 6 or 12 sessions is what they need.  For others a longer time is needed.  Each person is unique.
